73rd Annual Gilpin County Arts Association’s Juried Art Show

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!

PROSPECTUS 2020: The dates and times have changed but not the hanging requirements and guidelines.

Greetings from Eureka Street,
The Gilpin County Arts Association is proud to officially announce that we will continue our time honored tradition and that we have by unanimous vote, rescheduled our 73rd Annual Juried Show to August 1st 2020. After great consideration and deliberation by our esteemed board of directors, the thought of cancelling the show in light of recent events was considered, yet the pride we take in our association and our great joy in bringing the arts to our community for the past 73 years led us to a rescheduled date. A date that we hope, by then, that we will all be resuming somewhat of a normal lifestyle and really enjoying the summer season in Central City. We will closely monitor the COVID-19 situation as the opening date draws closer and we will adapt to all the necessary precautions to make our guests, our members and our community to feel comfortable in what should be a delightful evening of art. Please look for more announcements soon regarding the Juried Show, but for now we wanted to update you and give us all something to look forward to later this summer. I would be remiss to not mention the quality of art that was submitted to this year’s show as over 70 artists have submitted a wide range of media and subject matter that should make for a stunning visual display of art. We hope to see you then and we hope that we can count on your continued support of the Gilpin County Arts Association.
We are also looking forward to getting our gallery at historic Washington Hall opened up for normal business on or before Memorial Day weekend. There again, we will be taking every measure to make sure that social guidelines are followed and that we will be doing everything we can to make our guests at ease. We are also very excited to share with you that the 2020 Plein Air Festival is on schedule as originally planned for the weekend of September 25th with the opening on Sunday the 27th. This will be the third year we will be cosponsoring the event with our friends at the Central City Opera Association and we look forward bringing this very well received weekend of art back to the streets of Central.

If you have received an acceptance letter here are the guidelines listed below.

Please read the information and instructions in this letter carefully to ensure a smooth process for a successful show you may also refer back to the prospectus for art work requirements you may find this on our website. www.gilpinarts.org

We will be collecting art work from July, 11th through July, 25th between 1pm and 4pm the art collection deadline is July, 25th by 4pm.

Artist bio/ statement are requested. Please bring this letter with you when you hand deliver your artwork or include a copy of this letter in with your shipment if you will be shipping your work to the gallery.

Hand delivered work may be dropped off and checked in on the following dates: July, 11th through July, 25th between 1pm and 4pm. The deadline for art drop off is July, 25th at 4pm.

If you are shipping your work it must be here no later than Saturday, July, 25th. 

You may also make an appointment with the gallery manager Michele Roussel. During business hours you may call 303-582-5952 or you may also email your appointment request to gilpinarts@gmail.com 

We will be opening by May, 29th from 11am to 5pm and will be there from Thursdays through Sundays after the 29th unless an appointment for another day has been made prior to delivering your work. (I am willing to accommodate you on days we will not be open if need be.)

Please include a prepaid return shipping label with your artwork if you will be using FedEx or UPS.

PRESENTATION INSTRUCTIONS:


2D & PHOTOGRAPHY
Work must be sturdily framed and ready to hang. NO saw tooth hangers!
All work should be labeled on the back of your art piece with your artist ID and piece number (Ex: GCAA-101) it must correspond with your entry form and include the price and title along with the juried show inventory sheet found on www.gilpinarts.org under the forms tab.

3D, Jewelry & Fiber:
Pedestals can be provided but if your piece requires a special mount, one must be provided with the art work.
All work should be labeled/tagged with your artist ID
(Ex: GCAA-101) it must correspond with your entry form and include the price and title.

All Entries:
All work must be for sale and remain on display for the duration of the show August, 1st through September, 19th unless it has been sold. The artwork will be insured for the duration of the show. GCAA will take 40% commission on all work sold and the artist will receive 60% of the retail price.

The art pickup dates and times will be September, 19th through September, 23rd between 1pm and 4pm feel free to make an appointment for pickup also. (I will accommodate you for days we are not open to the public)

Thank you all for your participation in our 2020 juried show and we are looking forward to working with you, and a special thank you for your patience and interest during this pandemic as so many things have changed including our hours and the days we will be open to the public. We are hoping to see things going back to normal sooner than later and I will keep you up to date if any changes should arise.
